Although much of CKII consists of inheritance through family, usually a father to a son, there are some succession laws where the nobles of a kingdom cast their vote for their new King, Queen, Emperor, Kaiser, Basilius, Khan, etc. Although there are several types of democratic governments, these are the most common and most likely. Elective law is a Law of Succession in which the strongest vassal inherits. This is determined by the same formula used for Consanguinity law, but relationship to the present ruler is not considered. This is important to note: Any vassal or sub-vassal is eligible, whether they are of the present ruler's dynasty or not.
